NWS forecast

Up to 72 hours of supplied hourly forecast.

NWS day/night forecast

Radar loads when its tab is opened.

Hourly shows one 72-hour window, bounded to the source coverage. It includes the current partial hour when supplied; the last whole period can extend past the window. Only supplied one-hour periods are plotted. Gaps and missing fields stay unknown.

Temperature is the supplied forecast temperature; the dashed line is forecast feels like. Wind uses the upper end of the supplied speed range; the dashed line is forecast gusts. Rain chance is a probability, not an amount. Rain amounts cover the full dated interval shown, which can cross midnight; no hourly allocation is inferred.

Select a day to expand its forecast. Daily bars share one temperature scale. Chance and wind describe daytime, or the remaining night when no daytime period is supplied. — means not provided.

Radar uses actual NWS scan images in time order, with their original maps, observation timestamps and legends. The timeline runs from Earlier to Latest; partial loads show only available frames. Loaded is retrieval time, not the observation time or proof of scan freshness. No intermediate scans or times are invented. Omaha composite reflectivity is regional precipitation imagery centered on KOAX. Radial velocity measures motion toward or away from the radar; it is not surface wind or a tornado detector.

Full NWS radar viewer. Radar plays by default; reduced-motion preference starts it paused. Touch, drag or use arrow keys on the timeline to pause immediately. Play resumes; Earlier/Next move one actual frame. Zoom enlarges the complete image for reading the scan time and legend; pan the enlarged image, then Fit. Only the selected view loads, at most two images at once, with a five-minute refresh while playing. Paused images stay fixed until Play, Reload or a view change. Reload has a 30-second minimum. The retained image canvases use at most six million pixels per batch; browser image caches are managed by the browser. Background tabs and other sections pause requests and playback.

Alerts use the public Omaha city point, not your home address. Nearby or county-wide hazards can differ. Failed or stale checks never mean all clear. Official Omaha NWS page.

National Weather Service: KOMA observations and OAX/83,60 hourly/day-night forecasts and grid data. The large conditions icon uses the latest recognizable KOMA station condition report from the past 90 minutes. Partial reports can omit conditions; the newest temperature stays independent, and an earlier condition report shows its own time. No forecast replaces an absent station condition. Alerts: public Omaha city point. Radar: NOAA/NWS standard imagery.

Station coverage will be shown after the observation loads.

Forecast feels-like (apparent temperature) and forecast gusts come from the existing NWS grid when its actual valid interval covers the entire selected hour. Humidity, dew point and direction can also use that supplied interval when missing from the hourly forecast. These remain forecast values; they never replace absent observations. Solid and dashed plot lines distinguish forecast temperature/wind from apparent temperature/gusts. Missing fields and unsupported units remain unknown; zero is retained only when supplied.

Open-Meteo UV forecast is loading.

UV forecast data by Open-Meteo, under CC BY 4.0. Public Omaha city point, two-day model forecast; values rounded to one decimal. The hourly value is the forecast at the indicated hour, not an observation or a minute-by-minute reading. Category labels use the nearest whole index on the standard UV scale: Low 0–2, Moderate 3–5, High 6–7, Very high 8–10 and Extreme 11+. The model decimal remains visible. Supplied hourly UV appears in selected details only at an exactly matching one-hour timestamp; missing hours remain unknown. Model issue time is not provided; generationtime_ms is processing duration. UTC timestamps are shown in Omaha time. Personal home-automation free-use terms.

Calculated daylight data are loading.

NWS briefing availability is unconfirmed.

Official Omaha/Valley briefing packet . Checked independently of alerts every five minutes while this page is active. A supported content check can verify the exact inactive placeholder. Changed, image-only, unsupported, expired, stale or failed checks remain unconfirmed with the PDF available for review.

Today’s sunrise, sunset and daylight length are calculated by Open-Meteo at the public Omaha point, under the CC BY 4.0 licence linked above. Times and duration are rounded to the nearest minute, using the correct Omaha date/timezone. Tap or click the Daylight card to see today’s daily change from yesterday, rounded to the nearest second. Sunrise and sunset changes exclude daylight-saving clock shifts; missing comparison data stays unknown. Daylight length is not predicted sunshine or an observation; it uses the supplied duration, never an inferred zero. Day/night weather icons retain actual NWS period flags. Alert banners appear only for confirmed fresh active alerts; an Alerts “?” means its status is unconfirmed, never all clear.

Forecast checks are cached for 15 minutes, temperature observations and station condition reports for 10 minutes, alerts for 60 seconds and UV for one hour in this browser. Calculated daylight has a separate six-hour browser cache and the same capped failure backoff; Refresh respects that cache. Refresh respects the UV hourly cache; UV failures back off up to one hour. Background browser tabs pause requests. Leaving this page aborts requests; returning resumes checks. Other devices keep their own browser caches. UV has no shared backend cache.
